The most common controls using artificial vision:

– Product identification by patterns, in order to ensure that the identification of the product labelling coincides with the product packaging, avoiding shipments of pallets of the wrong products that are returned from their destination.

– Filling level, sometimes the containers do not have the right amount of product due to dosing problems. Failures of this type are a constant source of complaints from users, with the consequent economic and reputational cost.

– Presence of date, sometimes, due to faults in the in-line printers, products do not comply with the legal requirements that they have an expiry date.

– Adequate sealing, ensuring that the packaging fulfils the task of preserving the proper condition of the product it contains, ensuring that it arrives in optimum conditions to consumer.

– Presence of labels, both for marketing purposes and as a product image tool, and as a legal requirement as it contains the required health information.

In addition, Omron has recently reached an agreement with the American manufacturer Digimarc for the use of its decoding in its machine vision equipment. Digimarc, a leading American digital watermarking company, has created a revolutionary digital watermarking system based on stenography, which is capable of embedding marks imperceptible to the human eye into any printed representation.
